You do not truly want an outcome unless you are willing to also want the conditions that produce it.
On the Preconditions of Desire
If you don’t want the preconditions for desirability you are faced with the reality that you do not want to be desired.
How often do we think: I want a relationship. I want financial security. I want recognition. When the path is actually: to want the preconditions for being desired, for being secure, by being undeniably vital, useful, or dominant.
Any longing we entertain for the fruits of those preconditions are… fundamentally parasitic.
When we long for the fruit without wanting to host, feed, or tend to the tree, we are trying to siphon energy from a system that we refuse to maintain.
The move: redirect your longing towards the preconditions of its mechanistic fulfilment.
