In reality, there are no debts. Every personal counterfactual is simply false. “I will,” "I could have," or "I would but" statements—irrelevant. The stopping point is the entire dataset. Everything else is narrative. The entire temporal credit system we use to maintain identity coherence is misdirection, for others, for ourselves. Every moment is a complete financial statement with no accounts receivable. Potential energy that never converts to kinetic energy is just... nothing. It never existed. The student who "could get A's if they tried" and gets C's is a C student, period. The present state contains all the information; nothing else exists.

Each instant is informationally complete—reality always exists in its true state, it doesn’t work toward some deferred reveal. The wave function isn't "going to collapse"—it IS collapsed, continuously, into exactly what you observe. In physics, virtual particles that don't become real are just mathematical tools, not actual entities waiting in the wings.

Unrealized potential isn't temporarily stored somewhere—it's simply absent.

This reveals why the advice, "know thyself," is difficult: we can't bear clear sight. The difficulty isn't epistemic—it's that the data is already there, perfectly legible, and we actively work to obscure it. The Delphic maxim becomes almost ironic in this light. We've spent millennia treating self-knowledge as an archeological project, as if the self were buried under layers requiring careful excavation. When it's completely exposed, documented in perfect detail by every action and inaction. The "difficulty" is manufactured—we generate complexity to avoid seeing what’s directly in front of us.

The uncomfortable truth is that we're smaller than our self-concept. The actual territory occupied by our actions is tiny compared to the vast empire of potential we imagine. Most people would rather maintain indistinct borders that suggest infinite extension than accept the harsh cartography of their real boundaries.

When we see that behavior is already its own complete description—it removes the primary tool of ego-protection: the fictional gap between potential and actual we call “identity.” Without that gap, we're left with the raw footage, no editing permitted.
